The Power of Myth piece in particular rings very true. I just finished reading Nicholas Carr’s new “Superbloom”, and it makes a pretty strong case for social media and supposed connective technologies being the engine that has driven much of this: lack of attention, silos, filters and ability to follow a nonsensical path and receive loads of public validation for it.
I’ve removed myself from every social platform not merely for this reason, but as a way to try and make sure I keep my own practice of uncertainty and intellectual evolution front and center.
